Has COVID changed the way you look for work?

If you are over 50 and struggling to understand the digital world or if you want to be more confident with your computer skills, Upskill is designed to help. This 5-week hands-on program is tailor-made for you.
Upskill is a program designed for older job seekers. COVID has altered the job market, and older workers have been impacted the most. Employers have increased requirements for skills and experience. In response, JCA is launching the Upskill Program to equip applicants with computer confidence and other necessary skills.
This specially designed training will provide new skills to help older workers make the move into new job functions. Program participants are encouraged to participate in any and all classes to reach their job goals.
Gain confidence as you are introduced to the hardware and software components that will set the foundation for building your computer skills. The program will define basic computer concepts and terminology. Learn to navigate the desktop (or laptop), tabs, windows, toolbars, and taskbars. Examine the Windows Control Panel to identify settings and customize controls. Explore files and learn to browse, open and rename a file.
Learn how to access assessments, sign up for online training, and complete online job applications. Practice creating new folders, including copying and moving files. Use Microsoft Word to create, edit, and print out a document.
Master the use of email, including how to open and save email attachments. Explore the internet and learn how to find information. Learn steps you can take to be safe while online.
In addition to computer skills, the program will include a writing workshop with practical information, tools, and techniques for writing in today’s professional environment.
