JCA’s new Benefits Enrollment Center (BEC) will help low-income Medicare beneficiaries access critical public benefits that support their health, financial stability, and overall well-being. We provide person-centered assistance to eligible beneficiaries—typically people with low incomes who are 65 and older or adults with disabilities who receive SSDI benefits—by educating them about available programs and guiding them through the sometimes-challenging application and enrollment process. The BEC focuses on connecting clients to a core set of benefits, including the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, once known as “food stamps”), Medicaid, Medicare Savings Programs, and the Low-Income Subsidy (LIS, or “Extra Help”) for prescription drug costs. Through outreach, screening, and hands-on support, the Benefits Enrollment Center helps ensure that people receive the resources they need to maintain independence and improve quality of life.
