Thanks to a stream of five-star reviews penned by volunteers, donors, board members and people who have benefitted from its programs and services, the Jewish Council for the Aging of Greater Washington was recently recognized as a 2014 Top-Rated Nonprofit by GreatNonprofits.
The reviews on GreatNonprofits, which is the largest rating service for charitable organizations in the U.S., are posted by people who have first-hand experience with a charitable organization. Individuals can rate nonprofits on the GreatNonprofits website or at one of its partner sites, which include JustGive, GuideStar and GlobalGiving.
“Reading these heartfelt five-star reviews is deeply rewarding, and each one is a great pat on the back for our 800 volunteers and 74 staff,” said David Gamse, Chief Executive Officer of JCA. “We hope that being designated a 2014 Top-Rated Nonprofit will be a seal of approval that encourages more people to learn about JCA and support our work.”
In his review of JCA, economist Ken Simonson said, “I have served on JCA’s Board for over 20 years because I see it delivers unique or undersupplied services to both frail and active elderly in a creative and cost-effective manner.”
“A good number of our reviews on GreatNonprofits are from volunteers whose personal commitment to supporting JCA’s mission gives their five-star ratings even greater credence,” Gamse said. “These are people who have an insider view of what we do. They speak with authority about the integrity of the organization, our commitment to excellence, and how we make a difference for older adults and their families.”
