JCA’s REAL program wins national award

Heyman Interages Center’s Reading and Educating to Advance Lives (REAL) program, which is a collaborative program with DHHS and MCPL, won a 2018 National Association of Counties achievement award. This is the second year in a row that a JCA Interages program has received this award. Tech Connect won last year.
REAL connects volunteers with children and their parents through literacy and health activities in the Department of Health and Human Services waiting rooms. Volunteers read, talk, color and do other activities with the children. There are sites in Germantown, Rockville and Silver Spring.
