Sixth Grader Gives Her Paintings to Isolated Seniors

Twelve-year-old Kate Waldstreicher, the daughter of Maryland Sen. Jeff Waldstreicher (D-18), filled her Student Service Opportunity hours by painting scenes that now brighten the residences of home-bound seniors and nursing home residents.

Kate, a sixth grader at North Bethesda Middle School, delivered her artwork to the Student Global Ambassador Program, which in turn distributed them to seniors.

“I got some art material for Hanukkah and for my birthday, and I was just exploring art and it grew from there,” she said of her paintings which depict a sky with clouds, trees with a sunset and a colorful abstract.

Thanks Kate. We at the Jewish Council for the Aging know that you are making some isolated seniors smile.
