Staying Safe from Sexually Transmitted Diseases
Older Americans are being diagnosed with sexually transmitted diseases in numbers higher than ever. The real increases are even higher as not everyone knows they are infected or is ever tested.
In the Jewish Council for the Aging’s most recent Senior Resources Guide, we explain the definitions of these sexually transmitted infections, why the number of cases is rising and what people can do to keep themselves healthy and safe.
You are never too old to enjoy an intimate relationship, but you still need to make sure you are doing so safely.
*correction: The article titled “Sexually Transmitted Diseases” in the August 1 issue of Washington Jewish Week includes an illustration on page 20 showing a test tube labeled “Syphilis Virus Test”. In fact, syphilis is caused by a bacterium (Treponema pallidum) and not by a virus.

Closed for weather
