by Rhetta Vinson
Research shows that older adults who lose their ability to drive, are unlikely to continue to engage in productive social activities and more likely to develop depression and other psychological symptoms. This trend has only been exacerbated by the pandemic.
So on September 12th JCA VillageRides launched its fall advertising campaign which runs through December. It features this 30-second commercial which will air during sports and entertainment programs and during news shows on cable and digital streaming services.
The video ads encourage seniors who no longer drive to request a ride from trusted volunteer services and will run in zip codes served by volunteer driver organizations in both Montgomery County and northern Prince George’s County. The aim is to generate awareness of free senior transportation services.
VillageRides is also promoting National Be A Good Neighbor Day, September 28th, to encourage more volunteers to join one of VillageRides’ 15 suburban Maryland (Montgomery County and Prince George’s County) volunteer driver organizations. To that end, a print insert will appear in the September 25th Washington Post which goes to 62,000 subscribers.
Look for VillageRides’ insert September 25th or television advertising and join a vital community of volunteer drivers. If you or someone you know needs a ride, call 301-255-4212 to request the ” Gift of a Lift”!
